AIM


As they progress through the course, students will be able to: 


• Communicate confidently through written and spoken language in a range of contemporary contexts 


• Understand and use an increasingly wide range of vocabulary and grammatical structures, including some more complex forms, with reference to past, present and future events 


• Understand and respond to different types of written and spoken forms of the target language 


• Demonstrate a range of comprehension skills, for example understanding specific details, identifying the overall message and deducing meaning from context 


• Translate accurately from and into the target language using suitable grammatical structures and vocabulary

ASSESSMENT


Each language GCSE has a Foundation Tier (grades 1–5) and a Higher Tier (grades 4–9). Students must take all four question papers at the same tier. All question papers must be taken in the same series.

Access to dictionaries is not permitted in any of the four papers.
